What's your story?
In a way, I have been doing artistic commissions sporadically for many years. Friends and family members would request that I paint them something, or I gauged what would be meaningful to the person and gifted a work.
Commission work is like a sacred responsibility to me. I work to visually translate the story that needs telling. The result is something lasting and has a life of its own.
With that said, my commission process also includes care to details and your satisfaction with the process itself and the completed work.
What to expect
Spend some time considering what you really want/know what you're really drawn to in your space: color, size, story, & subject matter (I do hand-drawn with graphite). I want to get really clear on the energy and intention of the work, and understand your vision.
My current base pricing is listed below. This includes framing. It does not include crating & shipping and any applicable sales tax.
When you're ready, please email me via the form on my contact page. I will respond within two business days with any questions needed for clarification, my current lead time, and a price estimate.
Once we have a plan, I will draft a contract for both of us to sign. Please review this carefully, including compensation for partially and fully completed works if the contract is mutually terminated. There is a 50% non-refundable deposit, with the rest due upon completion.
Upon receipt of the signed contract and deposit I get to work! I create a digital board with all the inspirational elements: photos, sketches, color palette, etc. Please let me know about specific colors, textures, lines or patterns you are most interested in, and even a “vibe” you’re going for. I welcome any photos of the area where the work will live, or any other details that would help define the work.
Your painting will take between 4 to 8 weeks to be completed, and largely depends on the size and complexity of the work.
During the process, I will either text or email photos (you can decide the method of communication) to gather feedback and any changes you want to see. I will make the changes and continue communication until approval is final.
I will then add finishing touches (varnish if acrylic, sign, frame if desired, add hanging hardware) and ship. If local, I offer studio pickup or delivery. If installation is desired, a flat fee of $100 is added to the final invoice.
Frames are created by my husband, Matthew, and are available in 7 different hardwood options. I ask about this early on in the process, but some folks have wished to see the finished work before deciding on the frame--and that's doable!
Congratulations!! Celebrate this new work and the energy it brings to your home and space. Notice new little details each time you pass or gaze at the piece. It's a part of your story, and I hope it brings you joy for years to come!
